Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods across various locations, ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service. Candidates with previous experience in flatbed or commercial driving are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 1 lorries to deliver goods to specified destinations in a timely manner
- Ensure all deliveries are completed safely and in accordance with legal and company standards
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify any defects or issues
- Secure loads properly, especially when handling flatbed deliveries, to prevent movement during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any unforeseen delays
- Adhere to all traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies during driving duties
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, ideally with delivery driver experience
- Knowledge of flatbed operations is advantageous
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for long-distance driving
- Ability to operate various types of commercial vehicles safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Flexibility to work varied shifts as required, including early mornings or late evenings if necessary
