We are recruiting experienced Care Assistants to join our team across west Leicestershire, covering Braunstone Town, Groby, Ratby, Anstey and Markfield.
Your round
Braunstone Town, Thorpe Astley, Kirby Muxloe, Glenfield, Groby, Ratby, Anstey, Newtown Linford, Markfield and the villages between them.
We plan rounds so your calls sit close together and your service users stay the same week to week. That means you learn how someone likes their tea, which chair they sit in, and what a good day looks like for them. It also means you spot it quickly when something changes. Travel time between calls is paid, and mileage is paid on top.
The people you will support
Older people living with dementia. Adults recovering at home after a hospital stay or a fall. People managing diabetes, Parkinson's, stroke or COPD. Adults with physical disabilities living independently in their own homes.
A large part of our work is reablement, commissioned through Leicestershire County Council. This is short-term support to help someone regain their confidence and independence after illness or injury. Six weeks in, you often watch someone do for themselves what they could not do at all on your first visit. There is not much in care work that beats it.
A typical visit
- Arriving as a familiar face, with time to talk while you work
- Supporting people to do things for themselves wherever they can, rather than doing it all for them
- Helping people keep up the routines, faith practices and interests that matter to them
- Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support, always with dignity
- Medication prompting and administration
- Meals and drinks, and noticing if someone is not eating or drinking well
- Safe moving and handling, and support with mobility
- Light housework and shopping
- Clear, accurate recording on our digital care system
What we need from you
Previous paid care experience, whether that is community care, a care home, supported living or a hospital ward. You should be confident with personal care and comfortable working on your own in someone's home.
What we give you in return
A full paid induction. Care Certificate completion or refresh. Training in moving and handling, medication, dementia care and reablement practice. Regular supervision and an annual appraisal. Clinical oversight from our Registered Manager, who is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, so there is real nursing knowledge behind you when you need it. Clear routes into senior roles and on to QCF and specialist qualifications.
Pay is £13.00 to £13.50 per hour, plus paid travel time, mileage, holiday pay, pension, refer-a-friend bonus, uniform and DBS.
Driving
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this round. Groby, Ratby, Anstey and Markfield are village rounds and cannot be covered without a car.
