Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Door Installer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and remediation of fire-rated timber doorsets in accordance with UK Building Regulations and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The successful candidate will ensure that every installation is compliant with life-safety standards, providing peace of mind to our clients and protection for building occupants.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Fitting new fire-rated doorsets (FD30/FD60) and frames to high standards of finish and compliance.
- Remediation: Upgrading existing fire doors, including fitting intumescent strips, smoke seals, fire-rated glass, and compliant ironmongery (closers, hinges, locks).
- Surveying: Assisting in site surveys to identify non-compliance and measuring for bespoke replacements.
- Compliance: Ensuring all work meets BS 8214 standards and follows specific manufacturer instructions to maintain the door’s fire rating.
- Documentation: Using digital reporting tools (e.g., Bolster, Boris, or similar) to record "before and after" photos and evidence of compliant materials used.
- Health & Safety: Maintaining a clean workspace and adhering to site-specific safety protocols and RAMS.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience specifically in fire door installation or high-end architectural joinery.
- Certifications: * NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Site Carpentry/Joinery.
- Blue or Gold CSCS Card (Required).
- FIRAS, BM TRADA, or IFC individual operative certification (Highly Desirable).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Fire Safety Act 2021 and current fire door regulations.
- Tools: Must possess a full set of professional-grade hand and power tools.
- Driver’s License: Full UK Manual Driving License.
Skills & Attributes
- Precision: An "as close as possible" mindset doesn't work with fire safety; you must be able to work to millimetre-perfect tolerances.
- Communication: Ability to explain compliance issues clearly to site managers or residents.
- Integrity: A commitment to never "cutting corners"—if a frame isn't right, you speak up rather than fitting the door regardless
