We’re looking for a proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our team at Portsmouth Dockyard team to support the delivery of high‑quality SHEQ standards across the business. You’ll play a hands‑on role in keeping people safe, shaping best practice, and helping us maintain a culture where safety always comes first.
What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality activities

Carrying out risk assessments, site inspections and accident/incident investigations

Recording and maintaining accurate SHEQ documentation

Delivering induction training and internal SHEQ training sessions

Conducting face‑fit testing and ensuring safe use of equipment

Presenting safety information to employees and managers

Liaising with customers, HSE and internal SHE teams
-
Ensuring compliance with current legislation

Assisting with audits, spot checks and yard checks

Promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation
Qualifications
-
Marine and MOD experience - essential
-
Experience of assessing high risk activities - essential

Thorough knowledge of confined space management - essential

Excellent attention to detail and a natural ability to identify hazards

Confidence in recommending practical risk‑reduction measures

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential

Ability to hold Tech IOSH status – essential

Additional qualifications such as ISO knowledge, PTLLS, Environmental Management or Internal Auditor – desirable

Full clean driving licence
-
Willingness to undertake further training and achieve SC Clearance
