We are currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work within a specialist school in Middlesbrough that caters for pupils aged 4–19 years. All learners attending the school have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and benefit from a highly supportive, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their individual goals. You will play a key role in creating a positive and engaging environment where every learner can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils throughout the school day in both classroom and practical learning activities.
- Encouraging engagement, participation, and positive behaviour.
- Assisting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
- Supporting learners with individual education plans and personalised learning programmes.
- Promoting independence and helping pupils develop essential life skills.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support student progress.
Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Autism.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

- Monday to Friday
- 08:30am – 3:30pm
- Full-time position
