Construction Technician – Further Education CollegeJob Summary
We are seeking a practical and reliable Construction Technician to join a Further Education college, supporting lecturers and students within the college’s Construction workshops.
This is a hands-on role where you will help ensure the workshops are prepared, organised and operating safely, while providing practical support to lecturers during teaching sessions.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within Construction, Trades or a similar practical environment. Previous experience working within education is beneficial but not essential.
An Enhanced DBS is essential for this role.
Duties
- Support Construction lecturers during practical workshop sessions
- Prepare tools, equipment and materials ahead of lessons
- Ensure workshops are clean, organised and ready for teaching
- Assist students with the safe use of tools and equipment under the direction of lecturers
- Maintain and check tools, machinery and workshop equipment
- Report damaged or faulty equipment
- Support lecturers with practical demonstrations and workshop activities
- Monitor stock levels of materials, tools and consumables
- Assist with ordering and storing workshop materials
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed within the workshops
- Help maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students
- Support the wider Construction department as required
Experience
- Previous experience within Construction, Building Services, Trades or a practical workshop environment
- Good practical knowledge of construction tools, materials and equipment
- Strong awareness of workshop health and safety
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with lecturers, students and other members of staff
- Reliable, practical and willing to support across the Construction department
- Previous experience within a college, school or training environment would be advantageous but is not essential
- An Enhanced DBS is essential

Pay: £20.00-£30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.0 per week
