Summary of Role
- To assist in ensuring that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
- To assist the manager and deputy manager , in ensuring that all legislation in relation to registration with regulatory bodies, special needs, safeguarding and Health and Safety is complied with.
- To lead, mentor and manage team members to ensure they are meeting the requirements and ethos of setting.
- To work alongside the Manager and be responsible to open/close the nursery and assist the Manager in the day to day running of the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
- To have a sound knowledge of the Safeguarding responsibilities and procedures to follow.
- To adhere to all company policies
- To assist the Management in carrying out supervisions and performance management reviews for your team members.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by Management.
- Attend and Chair Meetings.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate would hold a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience in a full day care setting for children aged up to 5
- Hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification or higher
- Paediatric first aid certificate (desirable)
- Sound knowledge of health and safety and children's development
- A sound knowledge of Safeguarding procedures
Skills and abilities
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents and outside agencies
- The ability to prioritise, plan and organise workload accordingly.
