We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Nursery Kitchen & Housekeeping Assistant to join our friendly team. This is a varied role that combines kitchen support, housekeeping and general nursery duties to help ensure our setting remains clean, organised and welcoming for our children, families and staff.
Working closely with our Early Years Educators, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery by maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene, preparing nutritious snacks and light afternoon teas, and helping create an environment where children can safely learn, explore and play.
Whilst previous experience in a commercial cleaning or kitchen environment would be beneficial, it is not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare healthy snacks and light afternoon teas for the children, following food hygiene and allergy procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic nursery kitchen.
- Load and unload the dishwasher and washing machine throughout the day.
- Carry out daily laundry duties, ensuring items are cleaned, dried and stored appropriately.
- Clean and maintain high standards throughout the nursery, including playrooms, bathrooms, staff areas and communal spaces.
- Restock consumables including paper products, soap, cleaning materials and other essential supplies.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed to a high standard.
- Safely dispose of waste and follow recycling procedures.
- Organise resources and equipment to help maintain tidy, welcoming learning environments.
- Work alongside the Early Years team to support the smooth running of the nursery.
- Be a positive role model by demonstrating excellent hygiene practices, teamwork and a caring, professional attitude.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Is reliable, hardworking and able to work independently using their own initiative.
- Enjoys working as part of a friendly, supportive team.
- Has good time management and organisational skills.
- Understands the importance of hygiene and infection control within an early years environment.
- Has previous cleaning or kitchen experience (desirable but not essential).
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) a Food Hygiene qualification (desirable).
