Part-Time Vehicle Collection & Delivery Driver
Clovelly Cars Ltd — Ashington, Northumberland
Pay: National Minimum Wage + commission | Part-time, flexible hours
About the role
We're looking for an experienced, mechanically-minded individual to join our small, established team collecting and delivering vehicles across the UK. This role suits someone with strong automotive knowledge — a retired mechanic, technician, or experienced motor trade professional — looking for low-stress, flexible part-time work that puts existing skills to good use.
You'll be trusted to properly assess vehicles at the point of collection, using a diagnostic computer and a thorough visual/mechanical inspection, and to deliver vehicles safely and professionally to customers.
What you'll be doing
- Travelling to private sellers across the UK (via public transport) to collect vehicles purchased by Clovelly Cars
- Carrying out a full vehicle appraisal on collection — bodywork, interior, mechanical condition, tyres, service history — using our standard appraisal checklist
- Running diagnostic checks using a handheld OBD diagnostic computer and reporting any fault codes
- Taking clear, structured photographs of the vehicle's condition for our records
- Flagging any discrepancy between the vehicle as described and the vehicle as found, before completing the purchase
- Driving collected vehicles back to our Ashington premises
- Delivering vehicles to customers who have purchased from us, including a brief handover/introduction to the vehicle
- Completing paperwork accurately (collection notes, mileage, fuel level, condition report)
- contacting customers to arrange collection, providing updates ect
What we're looking for
- Solid mechanical background — ex-mechanic, technician, or motor trade experience essential
- Confident using (or quick to learn) a handheld diagnostic computer
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Comfortable travelling independently via train/bus/coach to collection points across the country
- Reliable, honest, and able to make sound judgement calls on vehicle condition and value
- Good communication skills — you'll be a face of the business with both sellers and customers
- Physically able to carry out vehicle inspections (crouching, boot/underbonnet checks, etc.)
What suits this role well
- Flexible, ad-hoc hours — work fits around you
- No sales targets, no showroom pressure
- Ideal second income for someone semi-retired from the trade
- Independent working — you're trusted to get on with the job
Pay & commission
- National Minimum Wage for all hours worked (travel time and collection time both paid)
- Competitive commission structure
- Mileage/travel expenses
Pay: From £97.68 per day
Benefits:
- Company pension
- Free parking
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
