Assistant Manager / Chef
The Elephant Underground – Shrewsbury
30–42 Hours per Week | Competitive Pay | Flexible Contract Available
The Elephant Underground has recently entered an exciting new chapter under new ownership, and we’re looking for an ambitious, hands-on Assistant Manager / Chef to help shape its future.
This is more than just another hospitality job. As we continue to invest in the business and expand the Elephant & Co. family, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
The Role
We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading from the front and stepping into the kitchen when needed. You’ll work closely with the management team to deliver outstanding food, service and standards while helping drive the venue forward.
For the right person, there is also the opportunity for this to become a dual-site role, supporting both The Elephant Underground (Shrewsbury) and The Elephant Crossing (Ironbridge).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the business.
- Leading and motivating the team during service.
- Working in the kitchen to maintain high food standards.
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and food safety.
- Helping train and develop the team.
- Driving excellent customer experiences.
- Playing an active role in the continued growth and development of the business.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in hospitality management and/or professional kitchens.
- A positive, hardworking attitude.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Someone who thrives in a busy environment.
- A genuine passion for great food and hospitality.
- Flexibility and a willingness to take ownership.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay, based on experience.
- Flexible contract to suit the right candidate.
- 30–42 hours per week.
- Opportunities for progression as the business expands.
- The chance to make a real impact in a growing independent hospitality group.
- A supportive team with exciting plans for the future.
If you’re looking for a role where your ideas matter and you can genuinely help build something special, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, send your CV and a short introduction telling us why you’d be a great fit.
If you’d like, I can also make it more informal and eye-catching for Facebook recruitment posts, or a more professional version optimised for Indeed.
