Step Start Nurseries is looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic Early Years Activities Coordinator to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences across our nursery settings in Essex.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and enjoys bringing new ideas to life. You will travel between our nursery settings, working directly with children and nursery teams to deliver purposeful activities that support learning, development and enjoyment.
You will also help strengthen practice across the group by sharing ideas, modelling high-quality activity delivery and supporting practitioners with activity planning and training.
About the Role
As our Early Years Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering a varied programme of age-appropriate activities for children from babies through to preschool age.
You will work closely with nursery managers, room leaders and practitioners to ensure activities are engaging, inclusive and linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The role will involve travelling between Step Start nursery settings across Essex, so you must be confident working independently and adapting your approach to different teams, age groups and nursery environments.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating engaging lesson plans and activity plans linked to the EYFS
- Delivering activities directly to children across different nursery settings
- Planning activities that support children’s communication, physical development, creativity, confidence and curiosity
- Adapting activities for babies, toddlers and preschool children
- Ensuring activities are inclusive and meet the individual needs of children
- Preparing activity resources and ensuring equipment is safe and suitable
- Supporting nursery teams to improve the quality of their activity planning and delivery
- Modelling effective practice and demonstrating how activities can be extended
- Delivering practical training, workshops and activity demonstrations to nursery practitioners
- Sharing new ideas, seasonal activities and educational resources across the group
- Working with managers to identify areas where additional support or training may be required
- Supporting the development of consistent, high-quality practice across all Step Start settings
- Reviewing the effectiveness of activities and making improvements where needed
- Maintaining clear records of plans, resources, visits and training delivered
- Following all safeguarding, health and safety and company policies
- Travelling regularly between Step Start nursery settings across Essex
About You

Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Experience working with children within an early years, nursery or childcare environment
- A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Experience planning and delivering age-appropriate activities
- Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills
- Confidence working with and supporting nursery teams
- The ability to travel independently between nursery settings across Essex
- A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- The right to work in the UK
- The ability to complete an enhanced DBS check
- Level 3 or higher Early Years Qualification
- Must have a clean driving licence and have access to own vehicle
Experience delivering staff training, coaching practitioners or leading activities across multiple rooms or settings would also be advantageous.
