An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Band 6 Diabetes in Pregnancy Midwife to join our maternity service at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Working as part of the diabetes in pregnancy multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist midwifery care, advice and support for birthing people with pre-existing and gestational diabetes. You will help coordinate personalised, evidence-based care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal pathway, supporting birthing people and families to understand their care, build confidence and make informed choices.
Please seek approval from your current line manager if you are applying for this role on a secondment basis.
You will work closely with the Lead Midwife and wider maternity, obstetric, diabetes and neonatal teams to support safe, effective and responsive service delivery across York and Scarborough. The role will include specialist assessment, individualised care planning, education and coaching, clinical support for colleagues, and contribution to audit, learning and service improvement.
We are looking for a registered midwife with post-registration experience, sound clinical judgement and a genuine interest in diabetes in pregnancy. You will be confident communicating complex information in a clear and supportive way, able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and committed to delivering inclusive, person-centred care.
This is a cross-site role requiring regular presence across both York and Scarborough in line with service need. In return, you will be supported to develop specialist knowledge and leadership skills within a welcoming maternity team committed to Kindness, Openness and Excellence.
If you are passionate about improving outcomes and experiences for birthing people with diabetes in pregnancy, we would love to hear from you.
