Trainee Estimator - Job Description
RoofTech are a leading industrial and roofing contractor with their head office based in Sutton. Established in 1988, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality roofing and industrial services across a wide range of sectors.
The role is to support the Estimator in their day-to-day duties while gaining valuable experience within the tendering and estimating process. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
The successful candidate will have good communication skills, a professional approach, and a desire to develop a long-term career within the industry. Full training and support will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for a junior candidate looking to build their skills and grow within the company.
Requirements

· Commutable distance to the head office in Sutton, Surrey
Tasks
Liaise with suppliers to obtain material quotations and pricing information
Assist with the preparation, editing, and distribution of priced estimates and tender submissions
Begin pricing small repairs and daywork projects under guidance from the Estimator
Attend site visits alongside the Sales and Contracts teams to gain practical project experience and understanding
Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, clients, and colleagues
Support the Estimator with general administrative and day-to-day estimating duties as require
Key tasks for the role include:
- Working closely with our Senior Estimator, Surveyors and Admin staff.
- Understanding of running orders, drawings, specifications and construction materials to formulate estimates.
- Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to achieve the best rates at estimate stage.
- Proof reading of specifications and estimates prepared by our Surveyors in readiness for sending to the customer.
Skills required include:
- A minimum of GCSE A to C for Maths and English (or equivalent qualification/knowledge).
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Proficient PC skills in Excel, Word, Outlook
- Well organised with problem-solving abilities
- Excellent time management
Experience in industrial roofing and/or cladding is preferred, but not essential.
