Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Finance Supervisor to take the management of our financial processes and assist our IT provider with basic hands-on IT liason. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently manage both accounting functions and IT administration. The role involves regular liaison with engineering personnel to support operational and technical needs across both finance, IT and directors across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Role
- Lead month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and VAT returns.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate job costing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
IT Role
- Provide first-line IT support across the business, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
- Maintain and update accounting software and internal systems (e.g., Pegasus, Microsoft 365).
- Coordinate user accounts, permissions, backups, and basic network administration.
- Coordinate with external IT providers for escalated support and infrastructure projects and selection and development of future IT requirements.
- Monitor and implement cybersecurity best practices.
- Assist IT provider with system upgrades, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Work closely with in house engineers to support systems
Skills & Experience
- AAT Level 4 or 5 qualification (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally within an engineering or technical environment.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage/ Peagsus);
- Practical IT skills, basic system administration, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Comfortable liaising with technical staff and understanding operational requirements.
