Bannister Transport is committed to revolutionising the logistics industry through sustainable practices. Recognising the environmental impact of conventional logistics methods, the company has embarked on an ambitious journey to transition its fleet of diesel-powered trailers to electric-powered alternatives. By the end of 2026, Bannister Transport aims to achieve zero-emission from its trailer fleet, setting new standards for environmental responsibility in the sector. In addition have welcomed our first 2 fully Electric Units, creating two 100% Electric Combinations capable of delivering our customers products with Zero tailpipe emissions with a further planned expansion of our Zero Emission Fleet.
We are currently seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Transport Planners to join our team on our Night Shift. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and a deep understanding of Temperature Controlled Distribution, although we would be happy to consider talented individuals from other backgrounds as a full training programme will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Manage the planned collection and delivery routes overnight to ensure efficient and timely transportation of goods, making real time adjustments to changing circumstances.
- Collaborate with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to determine the most effective routes and resolve any operational issues
- Monitor and track deliveries to ensure on-time delivery and update customers or stakeholders as necessary
- Conduct regular analysis to optimize routes, reduce transportation costs, and improve overall operational efficiency
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of deliveries, and customer interactions
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional and timely manner
- Participate in regular meetings and provide recommendations for process improvements
Desired Experience
- Proven experience as a Transport Planner or a strong desire to learn - we welcome applicants from other industries that are willing to put in the effort to learn.
- Knowledge of transport regulations and best practices - again something we can teach the right candidate.
- Strong IT skills (MS Office) essential
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
We believe in a good work life balance and as such all our planning teams work a 42 hour week over 3.5 days (nights)
Shift patterns available:
Sunday - Wednesday with the half shift handover every Wednesday - this will be discussed at interview.
Working hours:
Shift B - Wednesday 00:00 - 01:00, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 19:00 - 07:00
The salary range for this position is £31000 - £36200 depending on experience.
The successful candidate will be required to spend 2-3 weeks with our Day Shift team for training before moving to their allocated night shift.
