Electrical Engineer
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Working hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am–1:00pm when required
Salary: Agreed and reviewed based on performance
Training: In-house and further training provided
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Processing team at our busy metal processing site in Bourne.
This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety and performance of electrical systems across the site. You will play an important part in planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and plant improvements, helping to minimise downtime and keep operations running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and testing on processing plant, fixed equipment and site electrical systems.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose electrical and control faults, and complete effective repairs.
- Fault-find and maintain motors, variable speed drives, inverters, control panels, sensors, conveyors, safety circuits and emergency-stop systems.
- Support the installation, commissioning, modification and continuous improvement of plant and machinery.
- Manage critical electrical spares, monitor stock levels and identify obsolete or high-risk components.
- Work closely with production, mechanical engineering teams, contractors and suppliers to resolve faults and improve plant reliability.
- Supervise or support electrical contractors, ensuring site rules, permits and relevant standards are followed.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure tools, test equipment and work areas remain safe and serviceable.
- Participate in Saturday and out-of-hours maintenance arrangements when required.
What We're Looking ForEssential Experience & Skills
- At least 5 years' relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering or maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding skills across three-phase systems, motors, drives, control circuits and industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Practical understanding of safe isolation and electrical testing.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise urgent faults and communicate effectively with operational colleagues.
Qualifications – Preferred but Not Essential
- Current BS 7671 / 18th Edition qualification.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Approved Electrician status, inspection and testing qualification, or demonstrable time-served equivalent competence.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following environments would be advantageous:
- Waste processing or recycling
- Quarrying, mining or aggregates
- Heavy industrial processing
- PLC-controlled plant
- Variable speed drives and inverters
- Safety relays and industrial control systems
- Automated conveyor systems

Working Environment
This is a hands-on, site-based position within an operational waste and metal processing environment. The role involves working around heavy machinery, conveyors and mobile plant, as well as dust, noise, odours, uneven surfaces and outdoor conditions.
The role may also involve climbing fixed access systems, working in restricted spaces and handling tools or components. Appropriate training, permits, controls and PPE will be provided according to the task.
