At Derby Adult Learning Service, we’re on a mission to provide the best learning opportunities to the citizens of Derby. As a family learning tutor, you will support learners who may have struggled with education and life skills in the past, helping them break down barriers enabling them to become resilient and successful adult learners.
We are looking for a dedicated family learning tutor who is committed to creating an encouraging and inclusive learning environment where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
The Opportunity
In the role of Family Learning Adult Tutor , here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
Family Learning Tutors design and deliver courses that help parents, carers, and children learn together. They work in community venues and adult learning centres to improve family literacy, numeracy, and overall wellbeing. [1]
Planning and delivering diverse courses, ranging from entry level in tailored learning designed to meet individual learner needs and support progression into further learning, volunteering, life skills and employability.
Working collaboratively with local partners and community groups to engage and support learners across the community, promoting inclusive learning opportunities and positive outcomes for all participants.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...
Innovative Teaching Approach: Bring fresh ideas to the table, constantly exploring creative and effective teaching methods to engage and inspire our learners
Learner-Centric Teaching Style: Put our learners at the heart of everything you do, tailoring your teaching to accommodate various learning styles and needs
Empathetic Mentoring Skills: Understand the challenges adult learners face, and support them with empathy and patience every step of the way.
Recent experience delivering a range of family learning courses, supporting learners in developing essential life skills that are practical for everyday life and work.
Applicants must possess a teaching qualification at level 4 or above.
