About Set AP
Set AP provides a nurturing, trauma-informed alternative education for young people who require a different approach to learning. We believe that positive relationships, high expectations and individualised support enable every young person to thrive both academically and personally.
Working with very small groups (typically 3–4 pupils), we create personalised learning programmes that combine core academic skills with creativity, practical learning and emotional development.
About the role
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical and creative learning experiences for small groups of pupils. Use arts, creative media and/or e-sports as a tool to re-engage young people in education. Help pupils build confidence, motivation, communication and teamwork skills. Create project-based learning opportunities linked to real life and future aspirations. Support pupils to experience success, belonging and positive next steps.
Projects may include
- Art and creative expression Digital media and content creation Podcasting, filming and editing Branding and enterprise projects E-sports, digital teamwork and commentary Cross-curricular projects that support literacy, numeracy and personal development
What we are looking for
- Calm, patient and emotionally intelligent. Able to build positive, trusting relationships with young people Confident working with pupils with SEMH needs and barriers to learning Committed to a trauma-informed approach Creative, flexible and solution-focused Able to lead small groups in a structured but engaging way Able to work as part of a close-knit team Passionate about helping young people reconnect with learning
Essential skills and experience
- Experience of working with children or young people, ideally those with additional needs, SEMH needs or challenging educational experiences Strong practical skills in arts, creative media and/or e-sports delivery Ability to plan engaging project-based activities Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to maintain clear boundaries and a calm learning environment Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Desirable
- QTS preferred, but not essential Experience in alternative provision, SEND, youth work, pastoral support or special education Understanding of reintegration work and inclusive practice Experience of supporting literacy, communication or wider personal development through creative projects Confidence using media equipment, editing software or e-sports platforms in an educational context

Professional Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare engaging lessons.
- Assess and record pupil progress.
- Attend staff meetings and training.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Contribute to school improvement.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
Planning and administration time is built into the school day after pupils leave.

Pay: £25,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
