Job Overview
Baldwin Skip Hire is seeking a reliable and professional HGV Skip Loader & Roll on Roll off Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe delivery, exchange, and collection of Skips and RoRos across our operating area while providing excellent customer service and always maintaining company standards. Must have access to personal vehicle due to remote location of the yard.
This role involves operating Skip Loaders and RoRo vehicles, completing daily vehicle checks, accurately recording jobs via PDA, and ensuring all company health and safety procedures are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver, exchange, and collect Skips and RoRos safely and efficiently.
- Complete all jobs using the company PDA system.
- Record accurate waste descriptions for collected and exchanged RoRos.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and defect reporting.
- Ensure skips are positioned safely and in accordance with customer instructions.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner with customers.
- Adhere to all road traffic legislation and company policies.
- Keep vehicles clean and presentable.
- Assist with yard duties when required.
Essential Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 Licence.
- Valid HGV Class 2 Licence.
- Valid CPC Qualification Card.
- Valid Tachograph Card.
- Good understanding of drivers' hours regulations.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have access to personal vehicle due to remote location of the yard.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous skip, roll-on roll-off, lorry and drag or waste industry experience.
- Knowledge of local road networks.
- Experience using electronic PDA systems.
Probationary Period
All new employees will be subject to a probationary period during which performance, attendance, timekeeping, driving standards, health and safety compliance, and overall suitability for the role will be assessed.
Successful completion of the probationary period is required for continued employment.
Training
Successful applicants will undergo company induction and operational training covering:
- Health and Safety procedures.
- Vehicle operation and daily checks.
- PDA usage and job completion procedures.
- Customer service standards.
