Kirklees Waste and Recycling service has 3 depots across Huddersfield ,2 in Huddersfield and one in Dewsbury and a Head office in Huddersfield Town Centre itself, all are within walking distance of a train station The depots are also a a short drive from the M62 at different Junctions , making them highly accessible for applicants from across the Northwest and Yorkshire.
Reporting to the Head of Operational Services and as Operational Manager you will provide purpose and direction to teams who provide a variety of street – based services including refuse collection, recycling, and street cleaning. You will manage the culture change in the deployment of resources to ensure services are focused on the needs of the community and are delivering excellent value for money within your allocated area.
You will also manage the commercial waste activity, ensuring maximisation of all income streams and development of the existing customer base, helping to and developing policy within the areas of your remit as appropriate to ensure services are delivered economically, effectively, efficiently, safely, and productively in accordance with Council policies, service objectives and relevant legislation.
The post requires good and effective communications skills with other council services, trade unions, front line employees and Councillors chairing and attending various meetings and forums.
