VACANCY DESCRIPTION:
PART TIME POSITION (2-3 hours per week)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced fitness coach to join our MOVE Kids coaching team, delivering fun, engaging and developmentally appropriate fitness sessions for children aged 5-14 years. Immediate start. This role requires commitment through term time and school holiday periods.
DETAILS:
The role will take place at The Box Portsmouth which is an elite venue providing specialist facilities for CrossFit (all ages), pre-school gymnastics and dance/fitness enthusiasts. It has undertaken fitness operations within the current facility space since 2013 at 235 Commercial Road, Portsmouth. PO1 4BJ.
This role will report directly to the facilities General Manager and Designedly MOVE co-founder.
DUTIES:
Will include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering engaging and age-appropriate fitness sessions for children aged 5-14 years.
- Coach and develop safe movement patterns as per the MOVE Levels programme
- Adapt sessions to suit different ages, abilities and confidence levels
- Create a positive, energetic and inclusive coaching environment
- Working hands-on in programs, activities and special events as needed
- Ensure all sessions are delivered safely and in accordance with safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with parents, participants, and the wider coaching team.
- Complete administration tasks and session preparation as required.
- Attend staff training sessions as necessary.
- Cooperate with the rest of The Box Portsmouth staff & its community of members.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Applicants must have the below skills, qualities & experience:
Essential:
- minimum of six months experience working with & instructing youth fitness for children aged 5-14 years
- must have sound knowledge of weightlifting movements (olympic and powerlifting) and how to safely instruct children in this area
- excellent communication & organisational skills and able to work as a team
- demonstrate ability to be a good role model to the MOVE Kids fitness participants
- be self-motivated and able to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision or instruction
- first aid qualified
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
- demonstrate ability to work with diverse populations
- able to perform a variety of physical activities with program participants
- Reliable, enthusiastic and organised
Desirable:
- CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, REPS Level 3 Personal Trainer or Level 2 Fitness Instructor, CrossFit Kids or equivalent youth/teens trainer qualification
- Background in gymnastics, PE or youth sport
We offer a £15-£20 per hour coaching rate dependent on experience and qualifications. We require the candidate to be fully available to undertake our set class coaching hours of: Wednesday 4:30-5:30pm; Saturday 8:00-9:00am and Monday 4:30-5:30 (when cover is required).
