We are seeking an experienced and confident Phlebotomist & IV Practitioner to join our growing private healthcare clinic in Halifax.
This role is ideal for someone with excellent venepuncture skills who is confident working independently in a professional clinical environment. You will play an important role in delivering a safe, efficient and high-quality service, ensuring every patient receives exceptional care from the moment they arrive.
Experience with IV cannulation is highly desirable, and experience in therapeutic venesection is advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

Main Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture and blood collection procedures safely, confidently and efficiently.
- Carry out IV cannulation and support IV wellness services where required.
- Support therapeutic venesection appointments.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, patient records and specimen information.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout all clinical procedures.
- Prepare clinical equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe and professional environment.
- Monitor patients during and after procedures, responding appropriately to adverse reactions, including vasovagal episodes.
- Provide reassurance and compassionate care to nervous or anxious patients.
- Work closely with the wider clinical team to ensure appointments run efficiently and patients receive an excellent standard of care.
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic while maintaining high clinical and professional standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience performing venepuncture independently is essential.
- IV cannulation experience is highly desirable.
- Therapeutic venesection experience is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
- Excellent knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures and aseptic technique.
- Good understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to venepuncture and vascular access.
- Competent in specimen collection, labelling and handling.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional while managing anxious patients or adverse reactions.
- Confident working independently while following established clinical protocols.
- Experience within private healthcare, GP surgeries, outpatient clinics, hospitals, infusion services or similar healthcare settings is advantageous.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as there may be occasional opportunities to support mobile and pop-up clinics.
