Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Worker to join our team in a busy vehicle recycling centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for grading tyres and stripping the scrap tyres from the rims using a tyre machine . A valid forklift licence and mechanical knowledge are essential.
Duties
- Load and unload scrap materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts
- Assist with the organisation and tidiness of the yard area
- Handle materials safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues
- Assist with general yard tasks as required
- Ensure all materials are stored securely and correctly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow throughout the working day.
Qualifications
- Previous vehicle recycling experience is advantageous
- Experience in materials handling, load & unload operations,
- Ability to operate a forklift safely (licence desirable but not essential)
- Physically fit with the ability to perform heavy lifting regularly
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures within a breakers yard/recycling centre environment

Pay: £24,420.00-£33,900.00 per year
