Apprentice Chef – Commis Chef Apprenticeship | Starting October 2026
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and keen-to-learn person to join our team at our busy pub and restaurant, The Royal Oak in Gretton, as an Apprentice Chef.
This is an opportunity to work towards the Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard, starting in October 2026, while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a busy professional kitchen.
About the role
No previous professional kitchen experience is required. Full training and support will be provided.

You will work alongside our kitchen team, learning the skills and knowledge needed to develop into a professional chef.
The Apprenticeship
The role will be linked to the Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard, with the apprenticeship programme expected to take approximately 18 months, depending on the training provider and individual progress.
We are happy to support the successful applicant in finding an appropriate apprenticeship training provider. You are not restricted to Heart of Worcestershire College and can discuss alternative training providers or colleges with us.

Working Pattern
This is a 5-day working week, including time dedicated to apprenticeship training/study.
Working days will be arranged on a rota across the 7-day week and mutually agreed between the apprentice, The Royal Oak and the training provider.

Entry Requirements
Apprenticeship entry requirements will depend on the chosen training provider. As a guide, Heart of Worcestershire College currently requires a minimum of Grade 2 GCSE in Maths and English, or Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English.
