Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Bank Kitchen Assistant to support the catering and meal preparation services at a local nursing home. This role offers flexible hours to assist with food service needs, ensuring residents receive nutritious and well-presented meals in a warm and caring environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, food safety, and providing excellent service to our residents.
Duties
- Assist in preparing and serving meals in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
- Support the kitchen team with food preparation, including chopping, assembling, and plating dishes
- Have knowledge of cooking and be willing to cook to cover annual of home cooks
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
- Help with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness of ingredients
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Follow all IDDSI, health and safety guidelines during food handling and service
- Assist with washing up, cleaning kitchen equipment, and maintaining hygiene standards throughout the shift
Qualifications
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, in a care home enviroment
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety procedures
- Experience in meal preparation and food safety standards within a healthcare setting is required
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills and a caring approach towards residents
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of serving procedures in a communal dining environment
