The Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) is a major temporary marine infrastructure project supporting the construction of the Sizewell C nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast. The facility enables the delivery of large construction materials by sea and includes a 463m-long jetty, steel and precast structures, and a cantilevered traveller system (Cantitravel) for modular construction.
Key Project Features Relevant to Roles
Construction Methodology: Marine piling, modular steel and precast concrete assembly, cantilevered traveller erection system.
Workstreams: Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), Test Piling, and Main Works.
Delivery Timeline: August 2025 – November 2026.
Contract Model: NEC3 Option C – Target Cost with Activity Schedule.

The Role
This is a 1-year fixed-term contract role working on a shift basis.
Will be responsible for the operation of the H&S function and advise management and our organisation at all levels on matters concerning improving the H&S in our operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Managerial
Leader in the development of a positive H&S culture.
Responsible for developing & improving a competent H&S team.
Responsible for managing and reporting statistical H&S performance to the Senior Leadership Team, analysing the data and advising the needed strategic, managerial & practical improvement areas.
Helping the management to foster a learning organisation mindset, advising how to learn from our incident, our positive interventions & best practices.
Leading the investigation of our incidents to ensure that appropriate root causes are identified and targeting the continuous learning and improving in our operations.
Report to and liaise with the UK regulator for H&S.
Actively share and seek best practices, learnings exchanging with the SB worldwide and UK Group, FPS & EFFC respective bodies.
Building, close and strong relations with the operational teams in order to provide efficient support and leadership.
Mentor staff at all levels in H&S matters. Provide advice and guidance on the training requirements to the management for all levels of the project regarding H&S matters.
Ensure that project teams are supported and suitable H&S guidance is provided.
Liaise with clients and supply chain partners on H&S matters.
Responsible for supporting HR and the Health and Safety Director in the implementation of the companies OH programme.
Advise & support commercial, design, commercial and estimating teams on H&S.
Assist with prequalification submissions.
What We’re Looking For
Membership of IOSH – Chartered/ Member of International Institute of Risk & Safety Management
Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice or equivalent
NEBOSH Construction Certificate – or equivalent
NEBOSH Fire certificate – or equivalent
NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent
Managers and Professionals CSCS card
Full UK driving licence
Experience of managing Health and Safety at a management level.
Significant Construction/Civil Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering experience.
A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development in connection with Health &
Safety, with a focus on the development of an improved culture of safety.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with colleagues under pressure.
Comfortable in demanding client situations.
A personal commitment to improving Safety, Health and Wellbeing standards in the workplace
Ability to develop strong relationships and communicate across all levels
Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required Experience in the production of safety reports, briefing documents, and procedures
Ability to apply relevant legislation in a practical manner
Experience with behavioural safety techniques
Experience of incident investigation and root cause analysis
