Base Operator – Corkys Cars

About the Role
Corkys Cars is looking for a reliable, organised and friendly Base Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing bookings, communicating with customers and drivers, and ensuring the day-to-day operation of the taxi/private hire base runs smoothly and efficiently.
This is a busy role that requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate clearly and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to customer enquiries.
- Take and process customer bookings accurately.
- Allocate jobs to drivers and monitor bookings throughout the day.
- Communicate with drivers regarding pick-ups, drop-offs and any changes to jobs.
- Deal with customer queries and resolve issues professionally.
- Monitor the booking system and ensure jobs are dispatched efficiently.
- Keep customers updated about estimated pick-up times where required.
- Take payments and process bookings where applicable.
- Record and update booking information accurately.
- Handle cancellations, amendments and last-minute bookings.
- Liaise with drivers to ensure smooth running of the service.
- Maintain a professional and friendly manner at all times.
- Follow company procedures and maintain confidentiality of customer information.
- Assist with general administration and other duties required to support the base.

- Be organised and able to prioritise tasks.
- Be comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Have good computer and keyboard skills.
- Be reliable, punctual and professional.
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Have a calm approach when dealing with busy periods or difficult situations.
- Have good attention to detail and the ability to enter booking information accurately.
Previous experience in a taxi/private hire control room, call centre, dispatch, transport or customer service role would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.
