QW Accommodation is inviting applications from skilled, motivated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join our residential services supporting children aged 8 years and over, young people and vulnerable young adults.
Our services include solo homes, children's homes, supplementary care and CQC-registered services, providing individualised care and support to people with a range of needs and life experiences.

Main Purpose of the Job
To provide safe, consistent, high-quality care and support to children aged 8 years and over, young people and vulnerable young adults.
The Residential Support Worker will attend to the individual's practical, physical, emotional, social and developmental needs, acting as a positive role model and helping each person to feel safe, valued, listened to and supported.
The role involves working closely with colleagues, families, social care professionals, education providers, healthcare professionals and other relevant agencies to promote positive outcomes.
Staff will support individuals to develop independence, resilience, confidence and life skills, while encouraging participation in education, employment, activities and the wider community.

Duties and Responsibilities Providing Care and Support
- Provide consistent, reliable and appropriate care, support, nurture and boundaries.

- Follow individual Behaviour Support Plans and agreed strategies.
- Support individuals to develop emotional regulation and appropriate coping strategies.
- Remain reflective and aware of your own responses when supporting individuals through challenging situations.
- Seek appropriate support, guidance and supervision following incidents or difficult situations.
- Where trained and authorised, use restrictive or physical interventions only when necessary, proportionate, lawful and in accordance with the individual's plan and organisational policy.
Key Worker Responsibilities
Where allocated as a Key Worker, you will:
- Take responsibility for supporting designated individuals and ensuring their identified needs are addressed.
- Undertake regular one-to-one and key-work sessions.
- Develop positive, warm and professional relationships.
- Support individuals to identify and achieve personal goals.
- Encourage active participation in decisions regarding their care and future.
- Advocate for individuals where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports for reviews and meetings.
- Support education, employment, appointments, activities and community involvement.
- Monitor progress and communicate relevant changes to the wider team.
Care Planning, Risk Management & Recording
- Contribute to individual care plans, placement plans, support plans, Behaviour Support Plans and risk assessments.
- Deliver care and support consistently in accordance with agreed plans.
- Identify and communicate changes in needs, risks or circumstances.
- Complete daily records, incident reports, handovers, communication logs and other required documentation to a high standard.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle personal information appropriately.
- Provide clear and professional written and verbal information to colleagues and relevant professionals.
Health, Education & Independence
- Support individuals with their physical and emotional health needs.
- Support attendance at healthcare and other relevant appointments.
- Promote healthy lifestyles, nutrition, personal hygiene and self-care.
- Support children and young people to attend and engage positively with education.
- Support young adults with training, employment and meaningful activities where appropriate.
- Help individuals develop practical life skills including cooking, budgeting, shopping, cleaning and personal organisation.
- Encourage appropriate independence while maintaining necessary safeguards.
Working as Part of a Team
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the aims and objectives of the service.
- Attend and contribute positively to team meetings, handovers and supervision.
- Maintain effective communication across shifts and services.
- Follow individual care and support plans consistently.
- Give and receive constructive feedback professionally.
- Support colleagues during challenging situations.
- Work appropriately with families, social workers, healthcare professionals, education professionals, commissioners and other agencies.
Maintaining the Home Environment
Residential Support Workers are expected to contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, healthy and welcoming environment.
This may include:
- Supporting meal planning, shopping and food preparation.
- Supporting individuals to develop cooking and nutritional skills.
- Contributing to household cleaning and domestic tasks.
- Supporting laundry and maintaining appropriate standards of cleanliness.
- Identifying and reporting health and safety concerns.
- Helping to ensure the home remains safe, comfortable and suitable for the individuals living there.
Working Across Our Services
Depending on the service, you may work within:
- Solo homes, providing highly individualised support to one child, young person or vulnerable adult.
- Children's homes, supporting children and young people within a residential care setting.
- Supplementary care services, providing additional support according to individual needs.
- CQC-registered services, supporting vulnerable young adults and individuals requiring regulated care and support.
The nature of the work means that no two days are necessarily the same. Staff must be able to respond flexibly and professionally to changing needs and circumstances.

Shift Pattern
The role involves shift work, which may include:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Weekends
- Bank holidays
- Sleep-ins
- Waking nights
Shift patterns will vary depending on the service and the needs of the individuals supported.
