Following the mobilisation of a new long-term Local Authority Empty Homes contract in the Newark and Sherwood District, we are looking to recruit experienced Multi Trade Operatives to join our dedicated Empty Homes Team
This is an opportunity to become part of a growing business delivering refurbishment works that directly improve local communities by transforming empty properties into safe, modern homes ready for new tenants.
This role focuses on dedicated refurbishment projects, allowing you to work as part of an experienced team delivering quality workmanship from start to finish.
The Role
Working across Newark & Sherwood District, you will carry out a wide range of refurbishment works within vacant Council properties, helping return homes to the a Lettable Standard.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality refurbishment works within vacant social housing properties, with a primary focus on major void refurbishments.
You'll work as part of a dedicated team carrying out complete property renovations, including kitchens, bathrooms and extensive multi-trade repairs, ensuring homes are returned to a safe, compliant and lettable standard ready for new tenants.
Although this role is predominantly major void refurbishment, you will also support the delivery of minor void works where required, helping ensure excellent service delivery across the contract.
Working alongside Supervisors, Surveyors and specialist trades, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality homes safely, efficiently and to programme.
Typical Duties
- Complete general building and multi-trade repairs within vacant Council properties.
- Carry out first and second fix carpentry, including doors, frames, skirting, architraves and ironmongery.
- Install complete kitchens, worktops and associated joinery.
- Complete bathroom refurbishment works, including sanitaryware replacement and associated boxing-in.
- Undertake basic plumbing repairs and alterations.
- Carry out patch plastering, bonding and making good.
- Complete wall and floor tiling.
- Carry out preparation, painting and decorating to a high standard.
- Undertake flooring repairs and preparation works.
- Complete minor brickwork, fencing, gate repairs and external reinstatement works.
- Carry out property clearance, making safe works and general refurbishment activities where required.
- Assist with larger refurbishment projects alongside other trades.
- Identify additional defects or health and safety concerns and report them promptly.
- Complete digital job records, photographs and quality documentation accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe and secure working environment.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with company procedures and Health & Safety requirements.

We are looking for an experienced Multi Trade Operative with a strong background in social housing, property refurbishment or general building works and be confident working independently as well as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Multi Trade Operative.
- Strong carpentry and general building skills.
- Competent across multiple trades including:
- Carpentry
- Basic Plumbing
- Plastering
- Tiling
- Experience installing kitchens and carrying out bathroom refurbishment works.
- Ability to deliver high-quality workmanship with excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify additional repairs.
- Ability to manage your own workload and work efficiently to programme.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to undertake a DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in a relevant construction trade.
- City & Guilds qualification.
- Previous Social Housing or Empty Homes experience.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- Manual Handling.
- Working at Height.
- First Aid at Work.
