We are a well-established organisation delivering integrated engineering and property maintenance services across the UK. With over 50 years of industry experience, we have built a strong reputation for supporting public sector organisations, housing associations, and commercial clients.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Fleet Service Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and compliance of our vehicle fleet, ensuring operational efficiency and the highest standards of safety and service delivery.
The Role
As Fleet Service Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's fleet operations, ensuring all vehicles are maintained, serviced, and compliant with relevant legislation. You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and senior management to minimise downtime and maximise fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance and servicing programme for the company fleet.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport, health and safety, and environmental legislation.
- Monitor vehicle inspections, MOTs, servicing schedules, and statutory testing requirements.
- Manage external suppliers, repair contractors, and maintenance providers.
- Control fleet budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Analyse fleet performance data and produce management reports.
- Investigate vehicle incidents and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage vehicle procurement, disposal, and replacement programmes.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to fleet operations.
- Support operational teams to ensure vehicles are available and fit for purpose.
- Lead and develop a team, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a Fleet Manager, Fleet Service Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of fleet maintenance and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant UK transport and health and safety legislation.
- Experience managing suppliers and service contracts.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience managing budgets and controlling operational costs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet management systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience working within engineering, property maintenance, utilities, or public sector environments.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and workshop operations.
