We are looking for a creative and motivated Product Designer to join our team on a part-time basis. You will work directly with the company owner to bring new product ideas to life, taking concepts through the entire product development process—from initial design and prototyping to delivering products that are ready for manufacture and retail.
This is an employed part-time role with flexible hours driven by active product launches and upcoming deadlines. It is ideally suited to an ambitious designer looking to gain hands-on experience within a fast-growing outdoor cooking brand, or an experienced designer seeking flexible, project-led work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative product concepts from design briefs and initial ideas.
- Produce detailed CAD models and technical drawings for manufacture.
- Design, build, and refine physical prototypes through hands-on testing.
- Work closely with the team to ensure products meet functional, aesthetic, and commercial goals.
- Prepare production-ready designs and technical documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers throughout the development process.
- Research materials, manufacturing methods, and industry trends to support innovation.
About You
- Background in product design, industrial design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in standard CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
- A portfolio demonstrating physical product development from concept through to production.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and product engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills, practical mindset, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a small team.
- Experience designing consumer products, outdoor equipment, or cooking gear is advantageous, but not essential.
Working Arrangement
- Part-time employed position with flexible working hours based on active product cycles and deadlines.
- Applicants must be able to commute to our office/workshop in Leighton Buzzard for design reviews, prototype testing, and collaborative planning.
Why Join Us?
Join a passionate team developing innovative outdoor cooking products. You will have direct input on designs, see your ideas evolve from concept into real products on retail shelves, and play a key role in shaping our product lineup as the business continues to scale.
