About the Role:-
We are currently looking for an experienced Injection Moulding Toolmaker to join a busy manufacturing environment in Tredegar.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair and improvement of injection mould tools used within automotive production. You will play an important role in ensuring tooling is reliable, accurate and available to support production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture, assemble, modify and repair injection mould tools to engineering drawings and required tolerances.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on injection moulding tools.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling issues affecting product quality, cycle times and production efficiency.
- Support tool trials, set-ups and validation activities alongside Engineering and Production teams.
- Carry out tooling modifications and improvements where required.
- Maintain accurate tooling records, maintenance logs and modification history.
- Investigate tooling-related quality issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Identify potential tooling issues that could affect quality, safety, delivery or cost.
- Escalate tooling problems and production risks appropriately.
- Work safely and follow all Health & Safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe toolroom, following 5S principles.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Maintenance teams.
- Provide technical input into tooling improvements and new product introduction.
- Liaise with external suppliers and toolmakers when required.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on tooling reliability, quality and production efficiency.
- Assist with audits and ensure tooling documentation and records are kept up to date.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Toolmaker, preferably within an injection moulding or automotive manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of injection mould tools and tooling maintenance.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of machining, fitting, assembly and tool repair.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of quality standards and manufacturing processes.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different departments
