About The Fish Society
The Fish Society is the UK's specialist in premium frozen seafood, with one of the widest ranges in the country — more than 200 varieties sourced responsibly from trusted suppliers around the world. We've spent over 25 years building a loyal community of home cooks, alongside a growing list of trade and retail partners.
We're a small, friendly team based in Normandy, just outside Guildford. Everyone here plays a visible part in keeping our customers happy and our orders moving — no two days are quite the same, and good people make a real difference.
The role
We're looking for a warm, organised and unflappable Customer Services Advisor to join us on a part-time, job-share basis. You'll be the friendly first point of contact for both our online web customers and our B2B / trade customers, helping them place orders, track deliveries and resolve any issues quickly and with a smile.
This is a hands-on, office-based role at the heart of the business. You'll work closely with your job-share partner and the wider team to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
What you'll be doing
- Handling inbound customer enquiries by phone and email — for both web and B2B/trade customers
- Processing and managing orders accurately from start to finish
- Resolving delivery issues (delays, missing items, damaged or thawed goods) and liaising with our couriers and warehouse team
- Advising customers on products, availability, cooking and storage — and helping them choose the right thing
- Handling complaints calmly and fairly, finding fast, sensible resolutions
- Keeping customer records and order notes accurate and up to date
- Supporting B2B/trade accounts with their orders, queries and account needs
- Working hand-in-hand with your job-share partner to ensure smooth handovers and consistent cover
What we're looking for
- Previous customer service experience (retail, hospitality, e-commerce or B2B all welcome)
- A genuinely warm, helpful manner — by phone and in writing
- Strong organisation and attention to detail; comfortable juggling several tasks at once
- Confident with computers and order/email systems, and quick to pick up new tools
- A calm, solutions-focused approach when things go wrong
- A team player who communicates well and is happy sharing a role
- An interest in food and a willingness to learn about our products (no seafood expertise required — we'll teach you!)
Exact days and hours can be discussed at interview — we're keen to find an arrangement that works for both you and your job-share partner.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a short note telling us why you'd be a great fit.
