Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Team Leader to join our friendly team, providing care and support to older people, including those living with dementia, in our welcoming residential care home.
In this role, you will enhancing the quality of life for our residents by assisting them with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to follow care plans effectively and a passion for caring for others.
Duties
- Lead and supervise care staff during shifts, ensuring appropriate staffing and delegation of duties.
- Provide person-centred care and ensure residents' individual needs, preferences and choices are respected.
- Support staff with personal care, medication, mobility, nutrition and other daily living activities as required.
- Monitor the quality of care provided and report any concerns to the management team.
- Administer and/or support the safe management of medication in accordance with training, policies and procedures.
- Complete and maintain accurate care records, daily notes, charts and other required documentation.
- Support the implementation and review of residents' care plans and risk assessments.
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and other external agencies.
- Act as a role model for care staff, promoting professionalism, dignity, respect and safeguarding.
- Support new and existing staff through induction, training and on-the-job guidance.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns, accidents, incidents and changes in residents' health or wellbeing.
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed.
- Assist with staff handovers and ensure important information is communicated effectively.
- Deal with day-to-day issues arising during shifts and escalate matters appropriately to senior management.
- Support audits, inspections and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
- Promote a positive, welcoming and respectful environment for residents and staff.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Registered Manager.
Requirements
- Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with clients and team members.
- Good understanding of CQC regulations and safeguarding
- Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is advantageous but not necessary as we will provide training.
- IT skills are necessary for maintaining digital records as well as good written communication skills.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience in a senior or supervisory role within a care home.
