We’re looking for a practical, organised and detail-focused person to join our small, friendly team at Haye Farm, a family-run organic farm and butchery in beautiful East Devon.
This could be a great opportunity for someone with a chef or professional kitchen background who wants to continue working with food, but with much more sociable and family-friendly hours.
What you'll be doing
The role is varied, and because we are a small business, everyone gets involved. Your work will include:
- Packing and preparing fresh organic meat
- Weighing and labelling products accurately
- Using a computer to print product labels
- Checking orders and ensuring everything is presented to a high standard
- Assisting with our sausage and burger production
- Following recipes and carrying out basic weighing and calculations
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Helping wherever needed across the butchery and food production areas
Could this be you?
We think someone with a professional kitchen or chef background could be particularly well suited to the role.
You'll already understand the importance of:
- Cleanliness and food hygiene
- Attention to detail
- Following recipes and processes
- Accurate weighing and measurements
- Working efficiently and maintaining high standards
- Working as part of a small team
- Taking pride in the food you produce
But you don't need previous butchery experience. We will train you in everything you need to know.
We're looking for someone who is meticulous, reliable, practical and willing to get stuck in. You should also be comfortable using a computer for basic tasks such as printing labels and recording information.
The hours
Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm.
No evenings or weekends.
We can also be flexible around childcare or other commitments for the right person.
Why Haye Farm?
We're not a large factory or production plant. We're a small family business based on an organic farm, with a close-knit and very friendly team.
You'll work in a beautiful rural setting, producing high-quality organic meat alongside our butchers and wider farm team.
We care about the quality of our food, the welfare of our animals and doing things properly. If you enjoy working with good food and would like a role where you can see where that food comes from, you may really enjoy working with us.
Haye Farm is approximately 5 minutes from Seaton and 10 minutes from Axminster, so a driving licence and access to transport are essential.
