Role Purpose
We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Sessional Child & Youth Support Workers to support young people aged 11–25 with learning disabilities and/or additional needs. You will help deliver safe, fun, and inclusive youth clubs, Stay & Play sessions, and one-off events. Your focus will be on creating engaging activities, fostering independence, and helping young people build confidence and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred youth club sessions and one-off events.
- Build positive relationships with young people, encouraging participation and social development.
- Plan, set up, and run activities (e.g., arts & crafts, sports, games, social activities).
- Provide practical and emotional support, adapting your approach to individual needs.
- Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all attendees, following safeguarding policies.
- Work collaboratively with the SEND Family & Youth Services Coordinator
and other staff to deliver consistent, quality sessions.
- Maintain accurate attendance and session records; contribute to feedback and evaluation reports.
- Assist with setting up and tidying away equipment and resources.
- Occasionally support additional events, trips, or Stay & Play sessions.
Person Specification
- Experience working with children or young people (voluntary or paid).
- Experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or Autism, and an understanding of the challenges disabled children and young people experience.
- Positive, patient, and caring approach to young people with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player with the ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
- Flexibility to work evenings (5–9pm) and occasional weekends and AD-HOC half term dates.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people.
- Strong IT skills
- Responsible for self and others, ensuring the wellbeing of vulnerable people and organisational reputation.
- Knowledge of session planning.
- First Aid or safeguarding training.
Additional Information
- This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
- Full induction and training will be provided.
- Opportunities for additional shifts and overtime may be available for events, trips, and Stay & Play sessions.
Pay: £14.80 per hour
Work Location: In person
