About Us
Diane Rostron at Addies Solicitors Blackpool is a specialist clinical negligence practice acting exclusively for Claimants across England and Wales. We focus primarily on complex birth injury claims, stillbirth and neonatal death, inquests and act as court-appointed Deputy for clients who lack capacity.
We are a small, close-knit and supportive team, and this role would suit someone who wants genuine responsibility and hands-on experience early in their career, working on meaningful cases that make a real difference to families.
The Role
We are looking for a Junior Solicitor to assist our clinical negligence claimant team with the day-to-day progression of a caseload covering birth injury, stillbirth, neonatal death and other clinical negligence matters. This is a practical, hands-on role, ideal for someone newly qualified or with up to two years' PQE who wants to develop their litigation skills within a specialist niche.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and issuing proceedings at court, including drafting claim forms and supporting court documentation
- Preparing applications to the court and dealing with associated procedural steps
- Arranging conferences and meetings with counsel and expert witnesses (obstetric, neonatal, midwifery and other relevant experts)
- Assisting with preparation for inquests
- Liaising sensitively and professionally with clients, many of whom are bereaved or vulnerable
- Supporting Deputyship matters where required
- General case management, including diary and limitation monitoring, correspondence and file organisation
- Assisting more senior fee earners with wider case strategy and preparation as experience develops
About You
- Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales (Newly Qualified – 2 years PQE)
- Experience of, or a demonstrable interest in, clinical negligence or civil litigation; a clinical negligence training seat would be an advantage
- Excellent organisational skills and close attention to detail, particularly with court deadlines and limitation
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the empathy and sensitivity needed to support bereaved and vulnerable clients
- A genuine, considered interest in claimant clinical negligence work, particularly birth injury and inquest work
- Confident working with Microsoft 365 and OneDrive-based systems
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team
