We are seeking someone to operate woodworking machines in our Sawmill department at our site in South Petherton, Somerset. Working within a team of around 20 you will convert and plane timber according to customer orders, ensuring finished products are of prescribed quality and produced on time.
We operate 7 powered rip saws, 1 beam saw, 2 bandsaws, 3 moulders and other machines.
We are looking for somebody who provides quality workmanship and working to maintain long lasting relationships with staff, customers and suppliers.
Salary: £13.50+ per hour (depending on skills and experience)
Holiday: 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, with holiday bonus scheme based on years of service

Duration: Full-Time/Permanent – 40 hours per week – Mon-Fri 7:00am-16:00pm

Responsibilities:
- Select timber boards
- Fulfil sawing and/or machining of works orders accurately, efficiently and safely
- Work to maximize yield from each piece of timber
- Clearly and correctly tally sawn/machined timber onto production paperwork / system
- Stack, band and label each completed order safely and presentably
- Ensure work area is kept clean and tidy
- Other Sawmill / Production tasks as and when required

- Linear meters produced per hour / day
- Wastage %
- Tidiness rating of work area
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience in working in a timber sawmill, operating machinery, machining timber with a certificate, diploma or degree qualification (preferred)
- Good standard of basic education – especially maths (average or above)
- Fluent English language spoken
- Good team player
