We are looking for some Part-Time care professionals locally in and around Bishop’s Stortford to help with the care of an elderly relative with dementia in their home for morning and evening.
Hours currently required for getting up and putting to bed are 9 - 10:30am and 19:00-20:30pm and coverage for weekends where possible on a rota basis.
You should have:
- Live within 15 miles of Bishop’s Stortord.
- Experience of working 1 to 1 with people who have had dementia.
- Be caring, patient, respectful and have excellent level of tolerance and understanding. A good sense of humour and simple communication is essential as they can easily be confused.

- Excellent English speaking
- To be able to work weekends (rota)
- To be able to sleep over if the need arises in the future would be desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: needed to help change pads and look after their needs, showering etc
- Domestic Tasks: Helping with laundry, changing bed, and meal preparation.
- Medication Management: Overseeing and administering when necessary medication.
- Mobility Assistance: Supporting with mobility, currently physical support needed to get in and out of bed
- Emotional and Social Support: Providing the client with companionship, encouragement on eating.
- Health Monitoring: Observing and reporting any changes in their health and wellbeing.
- Good Communication: Maintaining open communication with us about the client and other supporting team members
- Safety: Ensuring the persons safety and well-being at home. We should be contacted directly should there be any concerns or changes in their behaviour
- Promoting Independence: ‘gentle’ encouragement to support the persons continued independence in their day-to-day living activities including eating.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of care provided, observations, and medication administration
