Location: Bell Lane Primary School, Bell Lane, London, NW4 2AS
Company: GoTutors – Hendon
Employment: Part-time
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £7–£15 per hour, depending on experience
Position Overview
GoTutors is looking for a patient, responsible and passionate SEN Tutor to join our Hendon education team.
The successful candidate will work with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and may require additional support, adapted teaching methods and a more individualised approach to learning.
This is a highly responsible tutoring role. We are looking for someone who understands that every student is different and is able to adapt their communication, teaching style, pace and resources according to the individual needs of the child.
Our aim is not only to improve academic performance, but also to help students develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality 1-to-1 and small-group tuition for students with additional educational needs.
- Adapt lessons and GoTutors resources according to each student's ability and individual learning needs.
- Support students primarily across English and Maths, depending on their academic level.
- Break down difficult concepts into manageable and accessible steps.
- Use different teaching strategies to support students who may struggle with concentration, communication or traditional classroom learning.
- Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
- Monitor each student's academic progress and identify areas requiring further support.
- Provide clear feedback following sessions and communicate any concerns regarding a student's learning, behaviour or wellbeing to the appropriate member of management.
- Work alongside the Head of Education and centre management to follow individual student plans and agreed strategies.
- Maintain professional boundaries and consistently follow GoTutors' safeguarding and SEN procedures.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly looking for someone who is:
- Patient, calm and understanding.
- Highly responsible and dependable.
- Comfortable working individually with students who require additional support.
- Able to remain composed when dealing with challenging behaviour or communication difficulties.
- Confident adapting their teaching rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
- Observant and able to recognise when a student is struggling, overwhelmed or disengaged.
- An excellent communicator with students, parents and the GoTutors management team.
- Passionate about helping children make meaningful academic progress.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
This may include experience within:
- SEN tutoring or teaching
- Teaching assistant or learning support roles
- Schools or specialist educational settings
- 1-to-1 educational support
Relevant SEN, education, psychology or childcare qualifications are advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
Applicants should have strong English and Maths skills and be confident supporting students academically.
Working Conditions
- In-person role at GoTutors Hendon.
- Primarily 1-to-1 and small-group teaching.
- Students may have a range of additional learning needs.
- Full guidance on GoTutors' teaching expectations, safeguarding procedures and student plans will be provided.
