Mixed dairy family farm near Ilminster, Somerset; seeks reliable general farm worker who enjoys working with livestock to join its team.
The farm milks 360 Holstein cows and rears all its own replacements. In addition, it fattens all beef calves, grows 450 acres of combinable crops and has 140 early lambing sheep.
The role involves a mixture of livestock yard work (feeding, scraping, bedding, moving/checking stock at grass etc), some dairy tasks (helping with the end of milking, bringing in freshly calved cows, running off mixes etc), and some field tractor work (hauling trailers, raking grass, tedding grass, powerharrowing, rolling etc) as well as some basic farm maintenance tasks (fencing, pressure washing etc).
The successful applicant needs to work in an efficient, tidy manner. Have attention to detail and have a love for cattle.
Some previous experience with livestock is desirable and preferably some tractor experience although training will be provided and apprentices would be considered.
Rates of pay will vary according to experience.
