We are seeking an experienced, highly organised, and detail-oriented Quality & Product Compliance Manager (Mandarin Speaking) to join our growing team.
This role is critical in ensuring that all products imported from China and other international suppliers fully comply with UK legislation, UKCA requirements, EU regulations where applicable, and all relevant product safety standards before entering the UK market.
The successful candidate will act as the primary compliance lead between our UK business, Chinese manufacturers, testing laboratories, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities. You will be responsible for verifying product documentation, reviewing technical files, ensuring all testing is genuine and current, and maintaining complete compliance records for every product category.
Fluency in Mandarin is essential to communicate directly with manufacturers, suppliers, testing laboratories and certification bodies across China.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Compliance & Certification
- Review, verify and approve all product compliance documentation received from manufacturers.
- Validate Certificates of Conformity (CoC), Certificates of Compliance (CoC), Declarations of Conformity (DoC), UK Declarations of Conformity (UK DoC) and EU Declarations of Conformity.
- Verify the authenticity of all certificates and ensure they have been issued by accredited and recognised testing laboratories.
- Ensure certificates accurately correspond to the exact product specifications, model numbers, materials, electrical ratings, packaging and product variations.
- Review complete technical documentation for all imported products prior to shipment.
Product Testing & Laboratory Reports
Conduct detailed reviews of laboratory test reports including, but not limited to:
- Electrical Safety Reports
- EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility)
- LVD (Low Voltage Directive)
- RoHS Testing
- REACH Compliance
- UKCA Compliance
- CE Compliance
- RED (Radio Equipment Directive) where applicable
- Battery Safety Reports

Ensure all reports:
- Match the actual product being imported.
- Are current and within validity periods.
- Are issued by ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.
- Cover all relevant UK and EU legislative requirements.
- Include the correct manufacturer details.
- Include accurate product photographs and model references.
- Cover all product variants where required.

Review applicable standards based on product category and ensure suppliers provide complete evidence of compliance before production approval.
Supplier Quality Management
- Communicate directly with Chinese manufacturers in Mandarin.
- Request missing documentation and technical evidence.
- Challenge incomplete or inconsistent test reports.
- Coordinate product re-testing where necessary.
- Manage relationships with third-party inspection companies.
- Conduct supplier quality audits.
- Evaluate manufacturing capability and quality systems.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs.
Product Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures.
- Review production inspection reports.
- Analyse factory audit reports.
- Monitor incoming product quality.
- Investigate customer complaints.
- Perform root cause analysis.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation Management
Maintain comprehensive compliance files including:

Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in Product Compliance, Quality Assurance or Regulatory Affairs.
- Fluent Mandarin (spoken and written).
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Experience working with Chinese manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU product compliance legislation.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and laboratory reports.
- Knowledge of accredited testing laboratories and certification bodies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple product categories simultaneously.
Desirable Experience
- Experience importing products from China.
- Knowledge of Amazon, major retailer and marketplace compliance requirements.
- Experience working with SGS, TÜV, Intertek, Bureau Veritas, UL, Eurofins or other internationally recognised testing laboratories.
- Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001).
- HACCP qualification.
- Experience with ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
