Overview:
The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.
Job Summary:
As the Sustainability Advisor, you will play a key role in leading the sustainability efforts across the Anthro JV work package. The focus being on Environment, Skills, Employment & Education (SEE), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Community Engagement.
The role will also support some wellbeing initiatives across Anthro, working in collaboration with the HR, HSE and Client teams.
Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the construction team to manage environmental impacts of our works, completing weekly site inspections, monitoring work activities and reporting on the implementation of appropriate environmental mitigation measures and safeguards.

Work closely with the Client Environmental and Sustainability teams, conducting joint monthly monitoring visits across the construction activities.

Ensure compliance across the Anthro construction activities with the contractual environmental and sustainability requirements

Collect and coordinate environment and sustainability related data, completing client performance measurement updates at monthly, quarterly and 6-monthly intervals.

Ensure sufficient waste management and duty of care compliance across the Anthro work activities

Develop and deliver appropriate environmental and sustainability related training, including toolbox talks and bitesize training sessions to the Anthro workforce.

Assist the logistics and construction teams with Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) plant registrations across the project

Support with environmental and sustainability accreditations and certifications such as BREEAM and PAS 2080 and other sustainability related audits both internally and client-led

Advise the design and construction teams on the latest low or zero-carbon technologies and assist the Sustainability Manager on implementation strategies, where required

Lead on and maintain Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) membership, including facilitating site visits and assessing performance against the Code of Construction Practice.
- Support the HR and wider teams on tracking and managing apprentice data across the project

Collaborate with the client team to implement volunteering and educational institution engagement, such as CV workshops and careers talks to meet Anthro targets

Work with the client team to attend forums and complete applications and documentation (such as Section 61 application), as required

Engage with strategic Working Groups across the project (internally and externally) where required and provide updates to the Sustainability Manager and Anthro teams

Assist with investigations following environmental incidents.
Requirements

Relevant degree and/or professional qualification

Good understanding of sustainability within infrastructure/construction environment

Management systems experience e.g. ISO standards

Good understanding of Modern Slavery governance and compliance

Good IT skills including the whole Microsoft Office suite

Keen attention to detail with strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative

Effective communication skills, able to engage with a wide array of stakeholders, including peers, superiors, construction team and client personnel
