Overview
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Front of House Team Member to join our team at Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club.
You’ll be one of the first points of contact for our members, guests and visitors, helping to create a warm and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.
The role is varied and would suit someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing excellent customer service and can work confidently in a busy hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming members, guests and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Taking food and drink orders and delivering them to customers.
- Providing excellent customer service throughout the club.
- Setting up and clearing tables, keeping the dining and clubhouse areas clean and presentable.
- Handling payments and operating the till accurately.
- Cashing up at end of the day.
- Locking up of clubhouse and trolley sheds.
- Assisting with golf competitions, functions, society days and club events.
- Ensuring members and visitors have everything they need for an enjoyable experience.
- Following food hygiene, health and safety and licensing procedures.
- Working closely with the kitchen, bar and management teams to ensure smooth service.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident with customers.
- Reliable, punctual and well presented.
- Positive and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Able to remain calm and organised during busy periods.
- A good communicator and team player.
- Comfortable working independently when required.
- Previous hospitality or customer service experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and during competitions and events.

Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout their visit
- Prepare and serve beverages responsibly, adhering to food safety standards and responsible serving practices
- Take orders accurately using POS systems, ensuring timely delivery of drinks and food items
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including stock levels and sanitation protocols
- Monitor guest behaviour to promote a safe environment, including responsible alcohol service
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy hours and special events
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is preferred but not required; enthusiasm is key!
- Knowledge of food safety standards and responsible serving practices is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests
- Excellent time management abilities to juggle multiple responsibilities seamlessly
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- A friendly, energetic attitude with a passion for creating welcoming guest experiences
