About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking General Works Operative to join our steel operations team. This is a hands-on role involving the handling, processing, and preparation of steel products in a fast-paced environment. There is also an opportunity to learn and progress into steel slitting and cut to length operations for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- General labouring duties within the production areas
- Handling and moving steel materials safely and efficiently
- Banding and securing steel products for storage and dispatch
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Supporting machine operators and manager as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in a steel
- Experience with steel banding and material handling
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential)
- Valid overhead crane licence
- Forklift licence
Training & Progression
- Opportunity to be trained in steel slitting operations and cut to length
- Ongoing skills development
