We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Hire Controller / Sales Counter Assistant to join our busy and growing plant hire depot in Weymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a hardworking team.
As the first point of contact for customers, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the depot, handling hire enquiries, processing orders, and supporting customers with their plant and tool hire requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling customer enquiries by telephone, email, and at the trade counter.
- Preparing and processing hire contracts and quotations.
- Coordinating plant and equipment hire bookings.
- Liaising with drivers, workshop staff, and customers to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Managing equipment availability and scheduling.
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Promoting and selling plant hire, tools, and associated products.
- Processing payments and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting with general depot administration duties.
- Ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in plant hire, tool hire, builders' merchants, construction, or a customer service/sales environment (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Good computer and telephone skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Working Hours
Full-time position, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings as required.
