An opportunity has arisen at Leicester College to appoint an experienced and motivated Lecturer within the Motor Vehicle section of Engineering, due to continued growth.
The successful candidate will join a high-performing team and deliver across a range of provision, including full-time, part-time and commercial courses. Teaching will primarily be to learners at Levels 1–3.
Applicants are invited from a Light and Electric Vehicle background, with the ability to deliver a broad range of subjects including health and safety, workplace practices, materials and fabrication, tools and measuring devices, engine systems (mechanical, lubrication and cooling), fuel, ignition, air and exhaust systems, chassis systems, transmission and driveline systems, and electrical systems. Experience in emerging technologies such as electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicle systems, alongside routine maintenance, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong, up-to-date industry knowledge in the repair, maintenance, diagnosis and rectification of light and electric vehicle systems.
The key responsibilities of the role include delivering theoretical and practical knowledge and managing and conducting assessments in line with awarding organisation and college guidelines.
Applicants should hold:

A relevant level 4/5 HNC/D qualification or be able to demonstrate significant industrial experience as a minimum requirement.
- You will have a minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent).
- A full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or be willing to work towards obtaining one. If you do not hold a suitable teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain this as part of our investment in your professional development
- Applicants should ideally hold a relevant Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 qualification or above and preferably hold Electric, Hybrid, Hydrogen Vehicle Technology qualification at levels 2, 3 and 4. Consideration will be given to applicants who hold a relevant Motor Vehicle Level 2 qualification who can demonstrate appropriate industrial experience and a desire to develop.
Previous experience of working in a training environment or of working with young people is desirable but not essential as support is available for someone who can demonstrate commitment to developing others. An ability to demonstrate appropriate IT skills will be required including working remotely to provide distance learning and support to cohorts of students as required.
Candidates will ideally have a track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning within the FE sector, along with experience of developing course provision and knowledge of IV processes are essential together with the ability to appraise courses using a range of quality and performance indicators.
