Stewarts of Tayside Ltd is looking for an experienced and practical Agricultural Machinery Engineer to join our engineering team.
This is a hands-on role working across our farming operations, maintaining and repairing a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment. We are looking for someone who enjoys fault finding, fabrication, welding and keeping machinery working reliably during busy periods, particularly harvest.
The role is ideal for someone with experience working on harvesters, tractors, trailers and agricultural machinery. You do not need to be a qualified vehicle mechanic, we are looking for practical engineering ability, good problem-solving skills and the willingness to get stuck in.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on harvesters and other agricultural machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
- Perform fabrication and welding repairs to machinery and equipment
- Service and maintain tractors, trailers and farm implements
- Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections
- Respond to machinery breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Repair and replace bearings, chains, belts, hydraulics and mechanical drive systems
- Carry out field repairs where required
- Work closely with farm managers and operators to keep equipment available during peak seasons
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
Role Requirements
- Experience working on agricultural machinery
- Experience repairing harvesters or similar large agricultural equipment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
- Good fabrication and welding experience
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads
- Full UK driving licence
- Agricultural engineering qualification desirable but not essential
