Heron Fire Doors is offering an excellent opportunity for a motivated school leaver or someone interested in a career change to begin a career in advanced manufacturing as a Trainee CNC Operator.
This role would suit a talented young person with a strong academic record, particularly in Maths, Technology, Engineering, ICT, or another practical/technical subject. The successful candidate does not need previous CNC experience, but they must be practical, accurate, reliable, and genuinely interested in learning a skilled role.
CNC machinery is computer-controlled manufacturing equipment used to cut, shape, and process components to exact measurements. At Heron Fire Doors, our CNC operators play an important role in producing high quality, certified fire doorsets used in buildings across the UK and Ireland.
This is a trainee position, but it is not a general labouring role. We are looking for someone with the ability and attitude to develop into a skilled CNC operator.
What You Will Learn
The successful candidate will be trained to:
- Operate CNC machinery safely and accurately.
- Read and follow drawings, cutting lists, works orders, and production information.
- Load, position, and process door blanks, frames, and components.
- Check measurements and ensure work is completed to the required standard.
- Understand CNC software, tooling, machine setup, and production flow.
- Identify and report quality issues or inconsistencies.
- Work as part of a busy production team.
