Position: Site Maintenance
Contract Type: Permanent
Reporting to: Nursery Manager
Hours: 15 hrs - over two 7.5 hour days (2 fixed days between Monday and Friday, agreed upon employment offer)
JOB PURPOSE
To carryout maintenance on the nursery property efficiently and effectively.
To ensure that the general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained to a good, quality standard ensuring safety standards are adhered to. To liaise and manage communications between Pennies and any other subcontractor used in connection with nursery maintenance.
This position would ideally suit a person with multi-trade experience.
Accountabilities:
- Maintenance of the nursery building and external premises including minor repair work involving basic plumbing, basic carpentry, painting, lamp changes, general fault finding and rectification.
- General maintenance and upkeep of the gardens including repairs to garden storage sheds, outside furniture and playground equipment. Sweeping where needed in the gardens and basic gardening tasks.
- Ordering and purchasing of equipment and materials required for any maintenance related duties.
- Ensuring that storage areas and boiler rooms are kept clear and tidy.
- Reporting any defects of the building, furniture, fittings and equipment to the nursery Management
- Reading of Gas, Electric and Water meters as required.
- Assisting with and transporting nursery equipment to open days and events such as community events / Fete and assisting with set up equipment.
- Basic vehicle checks for Nursery vehicle if applicable, oil, water etc. Occasionally refuelling at filling stations when required.
- Additional hours maybe required
Qualifications, Training and Experience
- A maintenance qualification is preferable
- Experience of working in a similar role is desirable
- An Enhanced DBS will be carried out on the successful candidate
Environment
A nursery based setting.
Working Hours
There is some flexibility with the hours but two fixed days per week are preferable. Most work can be carried out when the nursery is open between the hours of 7.30 and 6.30pm, however, some evening and weekend work is required from time to time due to certain maintenance tasks being unable to be carried out safely in the presence of children and staff during business hours.
